How to Stop Overthinking Content
The secret to "just hit post"
We’ve all been there.
You know you should post something.
You sit down at the computer,
Start typing,
Then delete it all and start over.
This cycle continues until you have a post.
Good.
Now, go ahead and post it.
You got it.
Post it bro.
You don’t.
You get up and do something else.
Why?
Overthinking.
Overthinking is the biggest killer of consistency.
If you overthink your posts, you won’t get far.
This is something I used to struggle with.
So, I created a framework to overcome it.
1. Find why you overthink
You can’t fix overthinking if you don’t know why it’s happening in the first place.
The five most common sources are:
Fear of judgement
Identity attachment
Perfectionism loop
Lack of process
Input overload
Basically, you’re either scared of what people think, taking it too personal, trying too much, or don’t have a system.
Once you identify the cause of overthinking you can work to fix it.
2. Set yourself constraints
Constraints sound like a bad thing.
But they’re not.
They can be used to keep you from overthinking.
Let’s say I have a fear of judgement.
Thus, my constraint would be not looking at comments for the first day after posting.
This constraint could then be lowered as you get more comfortable, then eventually taken away altogether.
But, it helps you take fast action.
That’s the goal.
3. Write as fast as possible
The longer you wait, the more excuses you’ll come up with.
That’s why speed is key here.
If you write a post in two minutes, you’ll think less than if you write it in ten.
This means less time for your brain to turn against you.
4. Edit to 80%
This is what trips people up.
You probably think that your post has to be perfect.
Spolier: It doesn’t.
When you edit, you should be going for 80% “good”.
Basically, 80% of what you think is a “perfect post”
Once you have it, you can move on to the final step.
5. Hit post
This is by far the most important step.
But it’s also the one that people get the most hung up on.
So, I’m going to walk you through it.
Once you have your post written,
Count down.
3…
2…
1…
Post.
That’s all you have to do.
Once it’s sent, all your anxiety will go away.
-
That’s it.
You conquered your overthinking.
A big tip I have for this is:
It gets easier the more you do it.
Keep putting in the reps, and it’ll get better.
But,
When you put in the reps, you have to put in the right ones.
Next week I’m releasing a full guide on improving your writing.
Subscribe so you don’t miss out.
Thanks,

P.S.
Does this sound like you?
• You feel burnt out on X
• Your content looks random
• You aren’t growing, despie putting in the effort
These are all super common struggles.
In fact, I experienced them all myself.
So, I created a solution.
I call it the “X Content Dashboard”
It’s a hub for all of your posts and thoughts on X.
And since using it, it’s skyrocketed my engagement.
